Elderly Care
It can be a very difficult and emotive decision to acknowledge that the time has come for permanent support to enable independence and quality of life. Live-in Elderly Care works because the care is completely tailored around usual routines and tasks. There is no upheaval, everything is delivered on your terms in your home. And because we do not rotate staff and will guarantee to deliver continuity of care, a bond of trust and solidity of relationship is allowed to develop.
Enabling independence
• Our objective when providing home care for the elderly is to support and promote independence rather than taking over tasks that an individual can/wants to do themselves.
• Any tasks undertaken by the carers are clear, covering both what the individual and their families want them to help with and need them to help with.
• As time goes on and individuals’ needs and routines change, so too can the carer support as required.
Personal care
• A Live-in Carer providing home help for the elderly can be on hand to help transfer and assist in getting in and out of bed etc. as well as helping with the more sensitive personal care issues such as toileting, washing and bathing.
• A Live-in Carer is also able to oversee any medication required, prompting and encouraging
so that any care plans are adhered to.
• There are not many tasks that our carers are not able to perform when caring for the elderly, however, we often work closely with District Nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure that the individual receives the best possible care.
Housekeeping
• From cooking to ensuring that the laundry, cleaning and shopping are all up to date, a Live-in Carer will maintain the standards to which an individual has become accustomed to in their own home.
• Reluctant eaters can be tempted with favourite dishes or appropriate meals cooked to encourage and promote nutrition.
Finding a suitable carer
• Your dedicated Care Manager provides a single point of contact and will manage a regular
assessment of your needs as well as undertaking close and regular supervisions of your carer.
• One of the reasons why Live-in Elderly Care works, is our attention to providing the right carer with the right experience. Wherever possible, we endeavour to match carer personalities to that of the person they will be caring for. Profiles of suitable carers detailing their personality and experience will be sent to help you make your carer selection.
• More importantly is matching the skill set of the carer so that, should there be a specific condition or illness that needs managing, the appropriate training can be delivered. This would incorporate what your condition is, how to recognise it and deal with potential symptoms and how our carers can support you.
Your Care Manager and our registered nurse assessors will work closely with appropriate healthcare professionals at the outset and for the duration of your care. These could include District Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Chiropodists, Speech and Nutritional Therapists, GPs, and Physiotherapists etc. Established, good relationships with all of whom should ensure the best all-round service and care.
